Terms and Conditions

These terms are the agreement between you and Codyssey Labs when you use Sugar Pulse. We have kept them as short and plain as we can. Please read them, especially the medical disclaimer.

1. The agreement

Sugar Pulse (“the app”, “the service”) is provided by Codyssey Labs (“we”, “us”). By downloading, creating an account in or using Sugar Pulse, or using this website, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Sugar Pulse.

If you got the app from Google Play or the Apple App Store, that store's own terms also apply to the download. The store is not responsible for Sugar Pulse or for supporting it; we are.

2. Medical disclaimer

Sugar Pulse does not replace medical advice. It is a tool for keeping a record of your blood glucose and related information and for helping you understand it. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it never suggests insulin or medication doses.

  • Always follow the advice of your doctor or care team, and talk to them before changing your treatment, diet or medication.
  • Statistics such as averages, time in range and estimated HbA1c are calculated from the readings in the app. They depend on those readings being complete and correct, and an estimated HbA1c is not a laboratory test.
  • Readings shown in the app come from your meter, from what you type, or from a health platform. If a reading seems wrong or does not match how you feel, test again with your meter and follow your care plan.
  • Reminders and low/high alerts are helpful prompts, but notifications can be delayed or blocked by your phone's settings, battery saving or operating system. Do not rely on Sugar Pulse alone to catch a low or high.
  • Carbohydrate and glycemic index values in the food list are approximate and vary with recipes and portions.
  • In an emergency, or if you feel unwell, contact your local emergency services or your doctor straight away.

3. Who can use Sugar Pulse

You must be at least 13 years old to use Sugar Pulse. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the permission and involvement of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms for you.

4. Your account

  • Give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your password private and your phone locked. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into your account.
  • One account is for one person's health records.

5. Your data

Your readings, meals, medications, notes and other records belong to you. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display them only so that we can provide Sugar Pulse to you, for example to back them up and keep them in step on your devices. We handle them as described in our Privacy Policy.

Sugar Pulse is designed to work offline and keeps your records on your phone. If you share a PDF report or other content from the app, you decide who receives it.

6. Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • use Sugar Pulse in a way that breaks the law or harms anyone;
  • try to access other people's accounts or data, or our systems without permission;
  • copy, change, reverse engineer or resell the app or service, except as the law allows;
  • interfere with or overload our servers, or use automated tools to access the service;
  • upload anything harmful, such as malware, or content you do not have the right to use (for example as a profile photo).

7. Meters, health platforms and other services

Sugar Pulse can connect to Bluetooth glucose meters made by other companies, and can read glucose from Health Connect and Apple Health. Meter makers can change how their meters work, and compatibility can differ between models, firmware versions and phones. We list which meters are tested on our website, but we cannot promise that every meter, model or phone will work.

Brand and product names are used only to describe compatibility. Sugar Pulse is not made, sponsored or endorsed by any meter maker, Google or Apple. Your use of their products and services is governed by their own terms.

8. Availability and changes to the app

We work to keep Sugar Pulse running well, but we cannot promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. Features that need the internet, such as signing in and keeping your devices in step, depend on your connection and our servers. We may add, change or remove features over time, and will give notice of significant changes where we reasonably can.

9. Fees

Sugar Pulse is currently free to download and use. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will tell you clearly before you are charged, and you will never be charged without agreeing first.

10. Our intellectual property

The app, website, Sugar Pulse name, logo, design and content (other than your own data) belong to Codyssey Labs or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these Terms. Open-source parts of the app are covered by their own licences, listed in the app under About → Open-source licences.

11. No warranty

Sugar Pulse is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties, express or implied, including that the service will meet your needs, be accurate or complete, or be fit for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Codyssey Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss or harm arising from medical or treatment decisions made using information in Sugar Pulse, from readings that are incomplete or wrong, from notifications that were late or did not arrive, or from third-party meters, health platforms or services. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for Sugar Pulse in the 12 months before the claim, or, if you paid nothing, USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

13. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Sugar Pulse at any time and ask us to delete your account (see Deleting your data). We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms, or if the law requires us to. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to save your data. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as 2, 11, 12 and 14, continue after the agreement ends.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and disputes will be handled by the courts of Pakistan. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim there.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as Sugar Pulse grows. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Sugar Pulse after that, you accept the updated Terms.
